Innovation has been at the forefront of recent International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) discussions, and it is no coincidence that it is the theme of this year’s Sixth ICAO Global Aviation Training and TRAINAIR PLUS Symposium, graciously hosted by GMR Aviation Academy and Delhi International Airport Ltd. in New Delhi, India.

The upcoming Symposium will focus on Innovative Training for New Horizons and will explore the ways in which innovation impacts training. The event will also address global aviation training challenges as well as opportunities facing our ever growing industry.

As standards setters we must nurture innovation in all its forms, but also safeguard the basic interoperability among nations which has made air transport such an incredible force for peace, prosperity, and economic growth, and on a truly worldwide basis. We also have a very critical responsibility to ensure that there are sufficient numbers of skilled personnel to manage 21st century aviation and increased passenger traffic. In this regard, it is critical that we identify the new and emerging technological trends that will allow us to rapidly provide optimal aviation training solutions that meet the demands of this growth.

I look forward to the presence of the ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Programme (TPP) Members, industry stakeholders, and academic institutions at this year’s Symposium. This event will also provide a forum for TPP Members to discover new programme features and benefits, develop new business opportunities, and promote their training organization and products.

I look forward to seeing you in New Delhi!

Dr. Fang Liu ICAO Secretary General
